Our mission

RedAndWhiteMagz.com is an independent consumer-tech magazine. We publish news, reviews and how-to guides that help people understand technology and make better decisions about what to buy and how to use it. Our job is to serve readers, not brands, retailers or advertisers.

Editorial independence

Our editors decide what we cover and what we say about it.

Brands, advertisers and affiliate partners have no say over our coverage, conclusions or recommendations.
We do not send articles to companies for approval before we publish. We may contact a company to check a fact or ask for comment.
Brands cannot pay to be included in our recommendations, or to be ranked higher in them.
Commercial arrangements, such as ads and affiliate programs, are kept separate from editorial decisions.

Sourcing and fact-checking

We build our reporting on primary sources wherever we can. These include:

official announcements, product documentation, specification sheets, support pages and release notes from the companies involved
government and regulatory sources, standards bodies and court records
original research papers and security advisories
our own hands-on testing
interviews and on-the-record statements

When we rely on another publication’s reporting, we credit it and link to it. We do not present rumors or leaks as facts. If an unconfirmed claim is newsworthy enough to report, we say that it is unconfirmed, explain where it came from and tell you how reliable we think it is. Our guides list their key sources so you can check them yourself.

We check facts such as prices, specifications, dates and names before we publish, and again when we update an article.

How we make product recommendations

When we recommend a product in a review, buying guide or comparison, we base that recommendation on:

hands-on testing, where we have been able to test the product
specifications and documented features, checked against the manufacturer’s official sources
how the product compares with rivals at a similar price
known issues, such as how long software updates are promised, reliability reports and recalls
value for money, and the kind of person the product suits

We explain the reasoning behind our picks, including the downsides, so you can make up your own mind. We only recommend products we would be comfortable suggesting to a friend, whether or not we earn a commission from them. Our How We Review Products page explains our testing in more detail.

Hands-on testing disclosure

You deserve to know whether we have actually used a product. Every review and recommendation says clearly whether we tested the product hands-on, or whether our view is based on research, such as specifications, official documentation, credible independent testing and owner reports. In buying guides that mix both, we make this clear for each product.

We never describe a product as tested unless we used it ourselves, and we do not publish a full review of a product we have not tested.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI tools to help with research and drafting, for example to summarize long documents, organize notes, suggest outlines or improve wording. AI tools can get things wrong, so we treat what they produce as a starting point, never as a source.

Every article is reviewed and edited by a human editor before it is published.
Facts, figures and quotes are checked against primary sources, not taken from an AI tool’s output.
Testing, verdicts and recommendations come from people, not AI tools.
We do not use AI to invent quotes, sources or experiences, or to create images presented as real product photos.

A human editor is responsible for everything we publish.

Corrections

We sometimes make mistakes. When we do, we fix them openly.

If we get a fact wrong, we correct it as quickly as we can.
If the error is significant, such as a wrong price or specification, or a mistake that changes a recommendation, we add a note to the article explaining what we corrected and when.
Small fixes, such as spelling or grammar, may be made without a note.
We do not quietly remove or rewrite articles to hide mistakes.

If you think something we published is wrong, please tell us through our contact page. Include a link to the article, what you think is incorrect and, if you can, a source. We review every correction request we receive.

Updates and dating

Tech changes quickly, so we date our work and keep it current.

Articles show the date they were first published. When we make a meaningful update, we show the date of that update too.
We update articles when prices, availability, software, specifications or our recommendations change, or when a better product arrives.
We do not change the date on an article just to make it look fresh. An updated date means the content was actually reviewed, and changed where needed.
News stories reflect what was known when they were published. If a story develops, we may update it and say so, or publish a follow-up.

Conflicts of interest

We avoid conflicts of interest where we can, and disclose the ones we cannot avoid.

Team members must tell an editor about any financial interest, job or close personal relationship connected to a company they cover. Depending on the situation, we either give the article to someone else or disclose the connection in the article.
We do not accept payment, gifts or favors in exchange for coverage.
Like many publications, we may accept review samples and loans from manufacturers. These never come with conditions on what we write. Our How We Review Products page explains how we handle them.
If a company pays for travel or accommodation connected to our coverage, we say so in the article.
